I drill holes and tap threads into the blocks for a 1/4 inch bolt. I use the drill press as a fixing device only for this. I don't turn on the motor, I only use it to position the tap vertically. I still run the tap handle by hand, but this rig guarantees a nicely aligned set of threads in every hole.
